Winning his maiden Grand Slam

Winning a Grand Slam is a moment of honor and prestige for any tennis player.

Federer too experience similar emotions after he won his maiden Slam at Wimbledon in 2003.

However, he did not become number one in ATP Rankings following the win.

And, the win inspired him to continue his flawless form back then and continue challenging other top stars.

Becoming the World number 1 for the fisst time

While he did manage to finish the year of 2003 as number 2, he started 2004 with a bang, winning his second Slam in the form of the Australian Open.

As a result, he also became the World number 1 for the first time in his career.

This motivated him to become ruthless and he managed to scalp two more Slams the very year.

Winning Wimbledon and US Open five years in a row

Winning Grand Slams on multiple occasions is truly remarkable. However, winning it in consecutive years makes it even more special.

Federer created history by winning Wimbledon and US Open on five consecutive occasions, from 2003-07 and 2004-08, respectively.

It was courtesy of this, he became one of the greatest grass and hard court players of all-time.

Winning six World Tour Finals title

While the ATP World Tour Finals do not see so many players competing, but they represent another kind of challenge.

It is kind of considered to be the fifth Grand Slam of the year.

Meanwhile, Federer has won it on record six occasions, which is simply a phenomenal achievement. It has further cemented his legacy as the GOAT.

Return to winning ways after a lean patch

After Federer won the 2012 Wimbledon, he endured a lean patch for the next three years.

However, the beginning of 2017 saw his resurgence again, as he made a strong comeback by winning twin Slams, in the form of Australian Open and Wimbledon.

While he did not finish the year as the number 1, he managed to win seven ATP titles.
