In the foreseeable near future, the most efficient rocket engine should be a fission propeller. But even so, efficient fission propellers are not as efficient as today's chemical rocket engines. In order to achieve navigation and combat within the solar system, a space warship, using fission propellers, still requires a considerable portion of the volume to carry propellant. In space warships, propellants must be one of the highest proportions of mass and volume.
Armored ships must be able to withstand enemy weapons, and armor is definitely essential. In the case of a certain volume, the main appearance of the space warship should be an approximately cylindrical structure with a relatively smooth armor layer on the outside. Of course, the tilt armor is certainly effective, and the cannonball shape is also a good choice. In the attitude of the bow against the enemy, the armor has the largest angle of inclination.
The energy consumption of a space warship must not be small. Various weapon systems must require a large amount of power to operate. The generators must generate waste heat. The various equipments of the personnel life support system also need to dissipate heat. Space is a vacuum environment, and the only means of heat dissipation is heat radiation. Therefore, space warships must have a huge heat sink.
Lasers and kinetic energy cannons can also be used as point defense weapons to intercept missiles and drones. Therefore, missiles and drones should also be in groups to win in numbers. The size of anti-ship missiles in space should also be similar to that on Earth. Of course, there is also a combined warhead that mounts a metal fragment in front of the nuclear warhead, and uses the explosive force of the nuclear bomb to shoot high-temperature and high-speed metal toward the enemy.
The spacecraft is rocket powered, and any quality is precious, so the manned space should be small in space warships. Space warships, rather than "warships", are better suited to "space submarines" and do not have very spacious bridges and cabins. The personnel establishment on the ship should also be similar to that of modern nuclear submarines. It is reasonable to have dozens of people, and should not have hundreds of thousands of people like the battleships or aircraft carriers on earth.
